Green Tinted Glass

Neighbor’s windows tinted green,
A view I see from my own.
A reminder all that is seen
Is influenced by how it’s shown.

Viewing the outside through a filter,
Pale mossy clouds and muted sunrise.
On my balcony colours scatter,
Stripped of hue before reaching their eyes.

The deep crimson carnation will
Rot into faded muddy brown.
The sunshine-yellow daffodil,
An obnoxious khaki dulled-down.

The colour recalls your memories.
Untamed thoughts spread wildfire in my head,
Eating away the recovery trees—
Seeds germinated by words unsaid.

Months spent in deepening these roots.
Realisation quakes the forest:
A false perception never pollutes
The masterpiece of a florist.
